Avoid using extension cords where possible. -
Never run extension cords under rugs or carpet. -
Replace any frayed or cracked extension cords,
electrical appliance cords, computer cords, fan cords anything that plugs
into an electrical outlet.. -
Don't tamper with your fuse box or electrical
panel, use improper-size fuses, note any hot to the touch breaker switches -
If any electrical appliance smokes or has an
unusual smell, unplug it immediately, and don't use it until checked or
repaired.

Do not use Water on Electrical Equipment of Any
Type, Use Multipurpose Fire Extinguishers ABC or Approved for Electrical
Fires

Always De-Energize any Electrical Equipment if
You Can Safely before Fighting an Electrical Fire.

Always Call 911 - if you are not able to handle
the fire - AND DO NOT BREATHE SMOKE OR FUMES
